Common questions, answered.
1. What is the best online German language course for nurses in India who want to work in Germany?
BOLT (BorderPlus Online Language Training) is a fully online German program for nurses in India. It runs as four CEFR courses: A1, A2, B1, and B2. The full A1-to-B2 pathway takes about 13 months and builds toward B2, the language level German healthcare employers and nursing registration bodies look for. You get the same curriculum and instructors as the in-person BorderPlus Finishing School, so you can study from home while you keep working.
2. Who is eligible for BOLT, and can I enrol while working full-time?
BOLT is open to nurses in India who want a career pathway to Germany. It fits working nurses: the online format and pacing work around shift schedules, so you learn German without pausing your job or moving cities. Beginners start at A1. If you already know some German, a short placement assessment puts you at the right level.
3. How does the BOLT enrolment process work?
Enrolling in BOLT takes three steps:
- Enrol and assess: Join directly or through a hospital or agency partner. A placement assessment sets your starting CEFR level.
- Live classes:Attend live sessions with nurse-mentors who teach the German nurses actually use on shift.
- Exam prep: Mock exams and drills prepare you for each CEFR level exam, up to B2.
4. How much does BOLT cost?
BOLT is a paid program priced per CEFR level. A1 enrolment is open now at ₹15,000. The next levels launch in phases: A2 at ₹15,000, B1 at ₹20,000, and B2 at ₹20,000. You move into each level as it opens and pay for it then, so you never face one large upfront cost.
5. How is BOLT delivered — live classes or self-paced?
BOLT runs on a blended online format. You cover core concepts at your own pace through a library of pre-recorded video lessons, then join live sessions with nurse-mentors for practice, doubt-solving, and direct interaction. BorderPlus built the whole curriculum around the German healthcare context.
6. What happens if I miss a live BOLT session?
Miss a live session and you catch up through the pre-recorded video lessons that cover the same material, then rejoin the next live class. BOLT is built for working nurses with unpredictable shifts, so a missed class here and there will not set you back.
7. What CEFR levels does BOLT cover?
BOLT covers four CEFR levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2. Each level ends with an exam. B2 is the level German healthcare employers and nursing registration bodies look for. Each course builds on the one before, taking you from no German to B2.
8. How long does BOLT take to complete?
The full A1-to-B2 pathway takes about 13 months of study, with a CEFR exam at the end of each level. Study time per level:
| Level | Study Duration |
|---|---|
| A1 | ~40 workdays |
| A2 | ~40 workdays |
| B1 | ~60 workdays |
| B2 | ~94 workdays (two parts) + 20-workday revision |
| Full pathway | ~13 months |
Current cohort (A1) begins Aug 3, 2026
9. Do I get a certificate after completing BOLT?
Yes. Finish a level and you get a BorderPlus certificate of completion for it. This is an internal BorderPlus assessment. It confirms you completed the level and is separate from external CEFR exams like telc or Goethe.
10. Does BOLT guarantee a nursing job in Germany?
No. BOLT trains you in German, and the completion certificate does not guarantee placement. Candidates who pass BorderPlus's internal screening for language proficiency, professional credentials, and readiness for the German healthcare system may become eligible for placement support. The course itself does not include placement.
